There were a slew of improvements in the US Air Force after the introduction of the Lockheed P-80 Shooting Star. A major difference between the new planes and the ones that had come before them was that they didn’t have propellers and were able to do things differently. There was no benefit to using propeller-driven trainers to prepare for the P-8-s. The P-80’s fuselage was extended and a second tandem seat was installed by the military. A turbojet engine for the T-33 Shooting Star was created in this way: the Allison J33-A-35 It was the US Air Forces’ first jet fighter training aircraft! While fewer than a thousand P-80s were built, more than 7,000 T-Birds were sold around the world, making it a better fit for the military. Despite the fact that only a few hundred of them have been sold to civilians, the military still uses them.
