The Tomcat was a unique military plane. This aircraft was a supersonic, twin-engine, two-seater, twin-tail wing fighter jet with carrier capability. It was created with the United States in mind. It took to the skies for the first time on December 21, 1970, and was formally deployed in 1974. The F-14 Tomcat was the United States’ fighter jet. Until the early 2000s, the Navy’s principal maritime air superiority fighter jet. After a Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night (LANTIRN) system was introduced, later models were better adapted to ground-attack missions. With the introduction and popularity of the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, it was decommissioned in 2006. However, because several were shipped to Iran during the Pahlavi regime in 1976, they are still in service by Iranian forces. This plane is not cheap, costing up to $38 million.

Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet
The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet is a twin-engine, carrier-capable, multirole fighter aircraft based on the McDonnell Douglas F/A018 Hornet. It is the successor to the Grumman F-14. It can carry air-to-air missiles as well as air-to-surface weaponry, thanks to an inbuilt 20mm M61 rotating cannon. The aircraft is equipped with five external fuel tanks and can be converted into an aerial tanker. The super hornet took to the air for the first time in 1995 and is still in use today. 608+ Super Hornets had been constructed as of April 2020. It was supplied to Kuwait and Australia, where it is still in use by respective militaries. This airplane has a price tag of up to $66.9 million dollars.
